Cecilia Reeve
Cecilia Reeve

Cecilia Reeve (b. 1996) is a London-based artist whose practice elegantly bridges painting and animation to investigate the fluid thresholds between consciousness and the subconscious. A 2023 graduate of the Royal College of Art with an MA in Animation, Reeve crafts evocative visual narratives that navigate the landscapes of emotion, desire, and dreams. Her work conjures a poetic, otherworldly atmosphere—at once intimate and enigmatic—often laced with a quiet sense of unease. “Water” frequently appears as a central motif—serving as both a visual and symbolic conduit for the subconscious. Through the depiction of bodies suspended in water, she captures a sense of fragmentation and temporal dislocation, challenging perceptions of the physical self. Her work thoughtfully navigates the female gaze, using her own body as a tool for exploration and expression, questioning how it can be both visible and invisible, intimate yet abstract.

Her distinctive aesthetic and conceptual depth have garnered attention from major publications including Wrap Magazine, It’s Nice That, Harper’s Bazaar, Elephant and The Financial Times. Her animations have screened at prestigious festivals around the world, such as the Sundance Film Festival (2022), the London International Animation Festival, and BitBang. Cecilia’s work is held in private and institutional collections, including Soho House, and she has exhibited her paintings with notable venues such as Delphian Gallery in London.
