韓國新銳藝術家邊世喜(Byun Se-hee)，2017年畢業於濟州大學美術系並取得碩士學位，作品曾在Gidang美術館、濟州藝術博物館、弘益大學當代藝術美術館等機構展出，其版畫作品參展2018年由新竹縣文化局美術館舉辦的《亞洲當代版畫展》。

2020年發表的新作之構圖靈感起源自耶羅尼米斯・波希(Hieronymus Bosch)的三聯作《人間樂園》（The Garden of Earthly Delights），邊世喜將自身化身成各式樣貌，如畫面上全彩及通體佈灰的小人物們，而狼、貓頭鷹等擬人化動物則陪伴在側，牠們有時像父母、像朋友、像戀人，是作為畫面人們心靈的慰藉。藝術創作對邊世喜而言是挖掘並探索自我的過程，藝術家自述道：「繪畫時的我是滿足快樂的，我畫下記憶與情緒的殘影，或是我生命中所珍視的人事物。這些充斥著腦海中的零碎圖像與夢中風景，透過各式媒材及手法，將這些感知轉化成實際的圖景，完整了我的創作，進而認識更多的自己。」






Emerging Korean artist Byun Se-hee(변세희) received his master’s degree from Jeju National University Department of Fine Art in 2017. Byun’s works have been presented at institutions including the Gidang Art Museum, Jeju Museum of Art, and Hongik University Contemporary Art Museum, and his prints were showcased at the Contemporary Asia Printmaking Exhibition In Hsinchu County in 2018, which was organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Hsinchu County Government Museum of Fine Art.

Byun’s new works presented in 2020 were inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights. The artist transformed himself into different characters, just like the grey figures in the original colored imagery. Personified animals such as the wolf and owl stay by the side of the figures, enacting the role of parent, friend, or lover and providing a sense of soothing comfort to the subjects within the image. For Byun, the creative process is a journey of self-discovery. The artist once stated: “I feel content and happy when I am painting. I paint the afterimage of memories and emotions, or the cherished people, incidents, or objects in my life. These fragmented images fill my mind, and by using different mediums and methods, these sensations are translated into images, completing my work and allowing me to learn more about myself.”
